On Wednesday 17 May 2006, Aalborg Industries Co. Ltd. in Hai Phong near Hanoi celebrates the inauguration of Vietnam’s first marine boiler manufacturing facility. The factory is the materialization of a joint venture signed in 2004 between VINASHIN (Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Corp.) and Aalborg Industries A/S (the world’s largest marine boiler supplier, headquartered in Denmark).

The ceremony today will be presided over by representatives of the Vietnamese government and VINASHIN along with the Danish Ambassador to Vietnam, His Excellence Peter Lysholt Hansen, international custumers and executives from the Aalborg Industries companies from around the world headed by the Aalborg Industries Group’s President and CEO Mr. Jan Vestergaard Olsen and the factory’s managing director Mr. Bjarke Andersen.

The new 2,300 square meter factory and 430 sqm administration offices were completed earlier this year, and hiring and training of staff has been ongoing for almost a year supervised by the factory’s resident Danish management who are experienced boiler production engineers. The factory is equipped with all pertinent machinery and automation for production of the high quality of boilers for which the Aalborg Industries Group is well known world-wide.

Aalborg Industries Co. Ltd. is the fifth manufacturing unit in the Aalborg Industries Group and will manufacture boilers for the Vietnamese shipbuilding and offshore industry as well as for export markets. The production capacity of the first step of the development plan is approximately 70 boilers per year.
